A few simple things to keep in mind before doing so: 1. Read the General Submission Guidelines thread before posting in here, and adhere to said guidelines while making your submission. 2. Be sure to include an e-mail address in your submission that we can use to contact you should we have an opening and be interested in speaking further with you about your character. You may also submit an AIM/AOL screen name if you desire, but that is to be done as additional contact information, not primary contact info. In other words, an e-mail address is still required. 3. Once you have posted your character concept, do not continually pester us about whether we are going to accept you, when there will be another opening, etc etc. When openings are available, we will contact you via these boards and e-mail if we are interested in your concept. Spamming the boards with such questions (or with concepts that do not fall within our guidelines, for that matter) will definitely not endear you to us. 4. Failure to follow the simple instructions above may result in the rejection and deletion of your character submission, and in the most extreme cases of spamming, removal and banning from the boards. Alright, 'nuff said on that count for now. Challenge in life is inevitable...defeat is optional.

There she surved as a slave wizard and a plaything for the matron and her children. His father was one of the matron's sons but he doesn't know witch one. Nor does he care. When she gave birth, the matron named him Nath'vas. It means doomed blood. For some reason, most likely the matron's whim, the human wizard was allowed to keep and raise Nath'vas. Life was cruel and terrible for the half drow. Not only did he have to hid his presence from priestess who consider him a taint of the blood but also from all the other children. At the age of five his mother started his lessons in magic and by the age of six, he had learned to cast catraps. It was also that year, he caught the notice of the Matron mother when four other children his age ambushed him with deadly intentions. He managed to fend them off with his catraps and in the process killed one of the other kids. He went crying and bloody to his mother who comforted him. The matron quickly heard of this little incident and summoned Nath'Vas before her. When he entered her chambers, he immediately kneeled before her. His whole body was trembling with fear of her wrath. Surprisingly her voice was calm, almost soothing as she kneeled herself. "HHmm, what do we have here." The Matron purred as she reached down and stroked his white hair. "It seems my little half breed grand child is full of surprises.." She continued murmuring to herself as she grabbed a bit of his hair and pulled his head up. He was forced to looked look up at her and she continued to scrutinize him. "hhmm, if not for the ears, one would think you to be a pure drow." She stated as she loosened the grip on his hair. He let his gazed fall, not wanting to irk the wrath of the Matron. "yes Matron Mother." He stammered in reply. She chuckled as she brought her lips to his long but rounded ears. "Continue to surprise me and the rewards will be quite nice." She whispered tenderly and then released him. With a simple hand gesture, she dismissed him and fled to his mother chambers. Time would pass and at the age of ten he was able to cast magic missile and a few other level one spells. The matron was pleased but she still refused to send him to sorcery for formal training. At the age of fifthteen, he was sent on a small patrol. Only four warriors but a move up in the social hierarchy at least. The patrol was a success and the wild goblins where slaughtered. He returned to the home to find his mother had been sacrificed by his aunt Akor'Elv. On the outside, he played cool and uncaring. On the inside he seethed with hatred and anger. For the next five years he waited and plotted. The opportunity arrived when Akor'Elv captured a Moon elf child and was planning to offer the female child at a large ceremony. He stole the Moon elf child right before the ceremony. Leaving his unfortunate aunt disgraced and on the sacrificial altar herself. He has kept the elven child, hiding her in his private home out side the Amal'yl House. He has grown found of the girl and she is now six years old. He is currently looking for a way to escape his house and make his way to the surface with his new ward. He realized after three months he needed extra help raising the child so he went to the slave auction and bought a drow female. She was a bit beat up, and slave from birth, so she has no hatred against surface elves. Just people who are wealthy. He secretly put a geas on her that prevents her from betraying him, or his ward. Over the years, the three of them became close as any drow family could be. Both of grown fond of each other but do not understand these new feeling and have no way to really find out what they mean. After a while he started to hear rumors of a the Vhaeraun chruch. It toke a little over a year for him to find the where abouts of this chruch. When he did find the chruch, business deal struck between him and the chruch. They provide him with money, and small amount of resources. In return, he builds small magical items like magical wands, scrolls, and if really needed; magical arms and armor. He not a follower of the faith, cause it doesn't match his beliefs but is a small supporter. Oops, forgot to list his personality: To a degree a loner. He doesn't like big gathering and espically doesn't like being the center of attention but has learned to temper this trait. Doesn't like petty name calling. You could probably call him every name under the sun and he'll turn to you and say "thats nice, you done now?". On the most part doesn't makes threats, he makes promises. Protective of those he consider close acquaintances. There is no such thing as friends in the underark. Can be a bit sarcastic, espically if he can get away with it. Flaws Dependent: Moon elf child, age 6 name:Illiam Dependent:half drow slave(female age 20) name:Akor'dra Lecherous: He likes beautiful women. Black Sheep of the Family Curiosity Impious Intolerance: any one who scares, or threatens his ward. Jealous Lover: Chess'lyn (Lady Assassin) His adoptive cousin that is a fairly decent Priestess who enemies allways seem to fall dead. Giving May the blessing of having his child, on the condition that when she passed on their daughter was to be his new servant, for her many years of servitude as his connection to the other Drow in his little domain in the underdark. Whilst her mother encouraged her to become a Cleric as many other Drow women had, her ability to wield a sword couldnt be denied, thus she became a Despot. Of course the Drow are very suspicious of her. On the year of her fifty-fifth birthday her mother had passed on, thus she sought out her father whom was the person who knew her best. Now she is torn between her servitude to the Spider Goddess and her father. Flaws: Extravagant- With the large amount of gold in her fathers hoard she is used to only the finest. Fanaticism- Her mothers dedication to the spider queen and her fathers service, have inspire a great loyalty to the Drow race as a whole and her father. Greedy- Her dragon blood draws her to hoard wealth. Hot Headed- Whilst she knows she should keep a cool head, the blood in her is draconic. Intolerance (Elves)- Like most Drow she hates the surface dwelling elves. Megalomaniacal- She wishes to assert herself and the Drow race as the lords of Faerun. Overzealous- The opinions she has have been ingrained since birth. Proud- The rule of the Drow is that the strong rule. Scheming- Her draconic heritage slows her aging, allowing her to make plans that can take years to execute. Stubborn- Once her mind is made it doesnt change. How is it?

Skin: Dark black with white tattoos Eyes: Crimson Personality: He is very stand-offish when it comes to dealing with other people, unless they are a client or a target. He seems removed from the world around him, but in fact that is how he makes it seem, he prefers to act when he thinks is the most advantageous moment. Bio: He was the second boy of house Rilynunden in Undrek'Thoz when he was a child. His older siblings always tortured him just to see him in pain. Once he was sixty-one years old he snuck into his oldest sister's room and slit her throat in her sleep, the he snuck in to his brother's room and placed the dagger in his brother's hands. The next day (for lack of a better word), the Matron mother found her daughter dead and her eldest son holding the dagger. Shortly there after the First Boy was sacrifice to Lolthe, what a fitting end to a nice day. When he was seventy years old his Matron mother called him to the house chapel. When he arrived, she was sitting where she would sit if she was going to punish one of her children and his other sister was standing next to her. She smiled slightly seeing that he was shaking slightly, she said, "It is nice to see that you took the initiative to get rid of your sister's rival and pin it on your brother, well do." He seemed shock at her complement, she started again, "You are surprised? Your sister here was scrying on your older sister's bed room when you killed her, she barely saw you enter the room and do the deed. Then she scryed on you after you left the room, watched you enter you brother's room, another person she wanted killed and framed him." The matron mother laughed, "To think one of my children could do something this well thought out and successes, I am impressed Tebaun." She waved his sister to come forward. He asked, "And what is to be my punishment, Matron Mother?" His sister smiled, "According to Matron mother I have the right to 'thank you' for your service to the house." Even more confused now, "So I am not to be punished, than why summon me her?" The Matron mother raised, "You are to do your sister's bidding as if she were your Matron mother." The Matron mother tossed the dagger that he used to kill his other sister, "You are now the assassin of this house, seeing that you are good at killing and not being see." He bowed speaking to his Matron mother and sister, "As you wish." About a year after this meeting, house Rilynunden was destroyed. During the fighting, Xander killed twelve soldiers that got in his way. He opened the secret panel that led to the tunnels under the house compound, there he found his hidden stash of items, he grabbed his two long knives, his leather armor and his cloak and went to the tunnel exit that was out side of the city. He climbed the nearby cliff that looked into the city near his house and watched it be destroyed by a rival house, he smiled slightly, "What a fitting fate to fall on the family that mocked me." After that he wander the Underdark to Ched Nasad, where he heard about Sshamath and their temple to Vhaeraun, a faith that seems very appealing because of his activities he enjoys. He currently is traveling under the guise as a performance dancer. Vel'bol zhah l' selg'tarn? Stre d'lil olath?

Posts: 15 10/10/05 10:03 PM Patron	(I am reposting this to express and solidify my interest in joining; i have edited the character some from my previous post) Name: Ai Nyano, Daemir, Merka Filit, Simon Nicknames: Nyo; Roach Race: Half Drow/Half moon elf Class: Rogue/Ranger/Prime Underdark Guide/Hex-Blade Age: 130 Height: 5 weight: 120 Hair: White Skin: Black/ebony Eyes: Black Bio: Born to a Drow priestess of Eilistraee and a moon-elf Ranger, Nyo as he often calls himself ( his chosen elf name is ainyano little rat or roach; his parents called him merka filit- wild bird) birth was made less complicated by the uniqueness of his community and the fierce devotion of his parents to ensure that he was accepted. So for the first 15 years of his life, Nyo was a happy, curious child. He loved to laugh; he loved to listen to music and to explore; he loved jokes. Then came the war. During a raid and the beginning of a month long bloody conflict by a band of surface Drow elves Nyo was taken captive. His parents fought hard to find him but were overwhelmed. Due to his unique heritage he was considered something of a prize and a novelty by the cleric who took him captive. His life was spared. To the clerics of Vaeharn, Ainyano- now called Daemir (shadow jewel) initially represented a complicated, optimistic view of the future; a union between all surface elves. However, the Drow ego had a difficult time accepting his inferior bloodlines. Daemir never developed the innate spells of the Drow; but he seemed to have a natural resilience about him. He became something of a freak. A sideshow to his captors: simultaneously abhorrent and alluring. It was too easy to forget that he was not a full-blooded Drow. Bright enough to know that if he wanted to live he could not cry or show weakness, he made the most of his captivity. In a bizarre way, he began to enjoy his relationships with real Drow, much like a child trapped in terrible bedtime story. He was the hero, outwitting the dreaded enemy. His parents had often shared with him the difference between Drow and Surface morality: with Drow it was kill or be killed weakness was not tolerated; with the Surface, it was kill and be killed justice would be done to those who ignored the needs of others or killed without reason. So he adapted. He learned how to pay attention and gather information. Being a slave in kitchen meant that he had access to almost the whole community. He learned the art of melding into the walls; of avoiding confrontation; of obsequiousness; of pilfering needed resources; and of eaves dropping. He also learned to cook and tell foods apart by touch, taste, texture, and smell. In fact, the life was not so bad. His novelty had him in demand throughout the compound. Food also became a major source of comfort for him and continues to be an addiction/ weakness. For Nyo, it became a big game. He found the Drow to be overtly serious and full of themselves; and was beaten a few times for laughing at what seemed to him to be a melodramatic play. In the end, he became an astute observer of the Drow; learning their language and their customs. He also developed a fascination for visiting the Underdark. The discrepancies his captors produced to explain their own superiority were widely apparent to this half-breed who was slowly amassing a small pile of treasure in an unused flour bag in the kitchen (loose coins picked up cleaning, things left in the laundry, etc) and who watched this superior group so caught up in scheming and pettiness that they never knew how to have fun or laugh. The great irony was that Nyo began to feel superior to his captors even while they found him inferior. His captivity lasted a decade. One day, an opportunity presented itself and Nyo, who new his letters, left a note, a sizeable portion of his treasure as payment for his freedom, and ran. Eventually he was captured by a group of moon elves. Mistaken for a Drow he was treated harshly; bound, and thrown in a cell. It was only upon a visit by the cleric of Elistrae that Nyos origins were taken somewhat seriously. Both of Nyos parents were summoned once his identity was determined. The familys reunion was bittersweet. His parents had grown apart, but with Nyo back their relationship reignited again. Finally home, Nyo began to experience Moon Elf hospitality, what he perceived as hypocrisy. Branded with the mark of an evil deity, his community shunned the young elf. His father trained him as a Ranger for some time, fighting in a few skirmishes with the Surface Drow. But the ranger lifestyle was a poor fit, a fact not lost on Nyos mother, who recognized that Nyos sense of self was his greatest asset. Additionally, his own experience of the Moon Elf community jaded the still impressionable Nyo. Despite her best efforts to disbelieve, her sons morality did not embrace the elven ideals of serving the communal good. It was clear to her that his path lay somewhere else. He needed more exposure to Drow culture. Nyos relationship with his parents was strained during this process. Everyones desire to please the other, but trying to fit in is not the elfish way. Nyos path was unique and that is the elfish way. At least with the Drow, he looked like them. He could not accept Eillistrae for having abandoned him in captivity. And Drow Deities reigned with fear and oppression; ideals that did not ignite a spiritual spark for Nyo. He hungered for knowledge of his people and his homeland. His mother, torn at the prospect of losing her son again, but empathetic to his challenges to fit back into the moon elf community, decided to assist him in making the journey to Underdark. Nyos father was opposed but not blind. Their son had always been wild, but at least there had been kindness mixed with his curiosity. It was too hard to see now. His constant struggle for acceptance among the moon elves suppressed his sons playfulness. His sarcastic wit and stubborn lack of humility or respect for authority were both a source of pride and cause for concern. When Nyo and his mother left for Underdark, he left as well. Nyos mother was the daughter of mildly successful merchants in Ched Nassad and so her network consisted of working class folk. Slightly more tolerant and less critical than their noble peers she teleported Nyo to Ched Nassad. There she sought out a small merchant farm; really a collection of some savvy commoners who had decided to join forces. She convinced them to take Nyo on as a guard. His proficiency in Luth Alur (ranged fighting) and his astuteness made him a valuable commodity to the merchant. For almost 35 years Nyo served a scout for shipments, traveling through the Underdark, at home with his people. He soaked up the Underdark like a sponge, learning the cultures and languages of not just the Drow but all the Underdark races that he traded with. Nyo was not a typical fighter. The lead matriarch of the merchant family recognized Nyos strange talents and his subtle snubbing of the Drow societal structures; his curiosity of others and his astuteness at blending in. She introduced him to her favorite sometimes consort; a somewhat deranged Drow named Zad. Zad wore his hair in a Mohawk and had two xs tattooed on the side of his head. He was a hex-blade. Zad wanted to hate Nyo, but he loved the drink more; and Nyo always knew where to steel a bottle. Nyos training was brief, but it stuck. The balance allowed Nyo to harness his somewhat bizarre gifts and talents. Zad was killed by a hook horror guarding a caravan as Nyo was recruiting his new bat familiar. Nyo eventually became a freelance mercenary/merchant, specialized as a scout and supplementing his income with a small side trade of his own. He is widely traveled in the Underdark and familiar with most of the commoner/ red-light districts where he usually finds his lodging. He speaks most of the common languages of Underdark including Drow Sign language. He returns to the surface whenever his neck get tired of looking over his shoulder. His relationships with his parents are good and (deep down) loving, although his somewhat callous morality is not always to their liking. His mother lives on the fringe for pursuing sorcery as opposed to Wizardry. Her knowledge of healing and herbs has also made her something of a root woman within her community. In the end mother and son can tolerate and enjoy each others company as long as they do not spend too much time together. He rarely see his father but they share a similar affection. On the surface, Nyo has become involved with a group called The Smalls. A now retired band of adventurers, mostly Halflings and gnomes, and acquaintances of Nyos mother. For The Smalls, Nyo represents their dark side often doing their dirty work, which he considers laughable given his time in Underdark. But in them he has found trust and friendship and peace. Except that he is not them and still Drow. For Nyo is not the philosophizing sort that Drizzt is: in fact he often craves the Underdark and the company of other Drow. For Nyo, being both surface and dark elf requires him to be around both and to split his time. (The Smalls are powerful druids, bards, rogues, and illusionists with a number of high-level rangers and fighters as either hired help or business partners. They specialize in a number of ventures that include home protection; rare spell components plus a general store, a number of inns and a training program for young adventurers. Nyo works as their cook, masquerading as a surface elf, with only the highest-level leaders of the group knowing his true identity. On the Surface, Nyo is known as Simon. ) Nyo is not motivated by cruelty or revenge, but by a sort of dark humoristic pragmatism. He considers himself a scrappy guard who has managed to stay alive by the skin of teeth. He is now his own boss and lets his whims take him in either above or below. He sees himself as a conduit between the two worlds and will act as a scout for anyone from either looking to explore the other. He is very cautious with his personal history. He sees betrayal as bad business and it is one reason he avoided long terms association with a single group. When not in combat Nyo is usually looking for food, shopping for deals, or enjoying the company of bards. He loves animals, preferring their company to people and identifying with their focus on survival. His sexuality is somewhat ambiguous. In stress situations, such as scouting, combat, or tense negotiations, he runs the gamut from sarcastic to a twitchy kind of silence. He rarely threatens anyone. He is not a braggart and usually assumes that every new face is more than what they seem. He is cautious but not cowardly and on the battlefield can be quite courageous. In most ways Nyo appears like an adult Drow of around his age (130). To other Drow his plainness makes him forgettable, something he uses to his advantage quite often (inconspicuous feat). His eyes are black (speckled with blue if you look close) and his skin is lustrous chocolate black. It would take extreme close scrutiny to suspect Nyo as being anything other than full blooded Drow. He is tall (5) and stocky for a Drow having almost a husky build, thick in the arms and chest (Brawny feat). He lacks the lean taught look of many Drow, and is perhaps one of the few ways he is genuinely distinctive. He wares his white hair slightly past his shoulders. He has large brands of Vaeharn on the inside of both forearms, and a large hex tattooed on the center of his chest. Nyo was once a slave of surface Drow. His wrists and ankles and neck are scarred from the manacles being seared on. Large welts at his wrists are obvious. And the scars on his neck are about 3 below his ears, making them hard to cover up. The scars on his ankles are large as well. While Nyo enjoys his time with the Drow they represent his most dangerous enemy. Drow prejudice manifests itself with extermination; as opposed to surface elf prejudice of extreme disdain and ostrization. He will not share anything of his surface associations with other Drow nor will he share his unique heritage unless confronted. Descent into darkness: Of the two links to the campaign, Nyo would be attracted Sshamath for its egalitarian attitude towards spell casters; its uniqueness; and simply because he has never been there before. I see him being caught up in the intrigue rather than subscribing to it. His rising skill as a hex-blade makes him a valuable guard to any wizard. In fact this is exactly the sort of career advancement Nyo would enjoy. Working with a powerful group of wizards/ sorcerers serves his aspirations of power/survival. His links to Vhaeraun are quite strong as well giving him an insiders knowledge of the faith as well as a strong distaste for it, adding some possible interesting layers to the story. For someone who prides himself on keeping his cool, working with/within the Vhaeraun faith would be like uncovering a weaknesses he would rather forget. The campaign appears to be filled with these type of tensions between characters. (everything below assumes final approval by the GM) Class breakdown: Nyo is a multi-classed Rogue/Ranger/Prime Underdark Guide/Hex-Blade. He has weapon mastery of Bows and Heavy Blades preferring the short composite bow and long sword respectively. He has a strong affiliation with Bats which include Kye his female bat familiar. His chosen enemy for Ranger is Drow (to hunt ones own race is reserved for evil charactershowever his most threatening enemy are other Drow). Base Attack +11 Saves:+8/+11/+6 Spell Resistance 22 (9+1 per level:Source: Plot and Poison) Nyo is no wimp but he has survived by what smarter characters and all female drow would describe as a certain low cunning. He has the capacity to blend almost instantly into plain site as almost any drow commoner and will use this to his advantage as much as possible before resorting to violence. Once swords are drawn people die and Nyo life comes before all else. Nyo is Chaotic Neutral. An empty blackened leather backpack and coin purse. History/Background: Cazs mother was a common woman named Teleral. She caught the fancy of a High ranking Priest of the church who had a weakness for women. For several years did he have relations with her until she became pregnant. Fearing that he might lose his position due to his improprieties, he had Teleral locked away until she gave birth. After the birth, he had her killed and the baby to be raised by the church as a new found orphan. The church gave him to the monks who employed not only the Arcane Arts, but also the art of fighting unarmed. The monks gave him his name and taught him many things. How to read and write. History and religion. However, after many years, Caz became restless and difficult to manage. One of the monks knew of the High Priest and who Caz really was. He brought Caz before the High Priest. Many more years passed where he fought with enemies of the Drow and moved up quickly among the ranks. So much so that news of his successes reached the ears of his father within the Church, whos own position was now in jeopardy due to competition among the High Priests. All vying for favor. As a ploy to gain an edge on his opponents, the High Priest finally embraced his son openly as his own, now a respected soldier. His ploy succeeded. Now, Caz has become an agent for the Church and for his father. After her rise to power she sacrificed Dol-Zund's mother to Lolth, she offered Dol-Zund a place in her house but Dol-Zund couldnt handle the betrayal of his godess by not casting down his sister for her betrayal he fled the city to the Underdark and eventually made his way into a group of mercenaries his new family worked well for him but his spirit was never at peace so he set out to find his religion back. while traveling he realized the atrocities his old goddess had commited and how his people suffered under her rule now godless he joined a band of adventures set out on missoin after mission until he came to a strange town where he found a new god one he belived worthy of his worship and his devotion Vhaerun and so he left the his past behind him and the bodies of his fellows who new his past a bloody transaction even by drow standards he came to the temple of Vhaerun seeking a home and found only a hostile reception until he proved his worth by killing and leaveing giant spiders dead on the steps of the sanctum's stairs he was finally accepted after the monks deemed him worthy and grew tired of cleaning up the mess he left and so he moved into the temple to Vhaerun the monks and disciples happy to show of there renegade Draegloth who had forsaken Lolth. So now he lives within the temple atending mass and worship, but always on the lookout to strike back at Lolth in any way shape or from. Most pressing problem: Finding the Perfect Balence Between His Love for Gia and loyalties to his Faith D&D Break down: 7th level Rogue/4th Cleric/7th level Ninja-Spy/9th level Darkmask HISTORY: Lolth, the Spider Queen and chief among drow deities, would have her followers believe that she and she alone is the source of divine patronage for the race of dark elves. Despite her jealousy and her reticence, other drow deities do exist and frequently attract converts from the ranks of the dark elves. One such deity is Vhaeraun, the Masked Lord. Son of Lolth and Corellon Larethian, the drow god of thievery seeks to depose his mother and return the drow to the surface world, which the dark elves call the Night Above. His message of equality for the sexes and reconquest of the surface world has attracted many drow to his cause -- particularly drow males. Valkryn was one such convert. As the son of a drow noble house and to the second daughter -- herself High Priestess of House DeVir, Malus DeVir could look forward to receiving very little of anything from life. Throughout his childhood, he was drilled in the rigorous hierarchy of dark elf society, as all drow children are. He was constantly reminded of his inferior position, and he never looked a ranking house member in the eye for fear of grave punishment. Also, the presence of the female clerics of Lolth reminded him of his role. These clerics remained arrogant and secure in the power granted to them by the Spider Queen. Many times during his youth, Malus watched a powerful female cleric take a male consort only to discard the battered and used up body of that consort weeks if not days later. He, like all other drow males it seemed, could not escape the constant oppression and degradation and could, at best, hope to be favored by a wife with a relatively kind disposition if he Got Older. Fate it seemed would give him that chance, however. On that fateful night -- when Malus was just 5 or 6 years old -- House Do'Urden lead a successful raid on House DeVir. Successful with one exception, Malus. While most of the Noble Children were hidden away, Malus had a tendenicy to go off and wander, and as the attack started getting worse for his family, the chuildren were hidden away for safety. Malus however wanted to watch the attack and escaped the hiding place, instead hiding out in the Mushroom Groove to watch what was happening. This time, however he had a vision that he could not ignore, a Dark Mask seemed to becon him, leading his way. This perhaps Saved his life. Hidden within the Mushroom Groove, He watched the Entire attack happen with Horror. Knowing that there must be a way to escape from the clutches of the Spider Queen, he turned his keen mind to thoughts of treachery and revenge. However, he also knew that he could never oppose the ruling clerics of Lolth directly, he learned how to fight from the shadows. But first, he needed to survive. He bcame a begger and a theif on the streets of Menzoberranzan, barely even living to survive in the bazzar. He had already taught himself in past how to escape the Priestess' notice as a child -- even when standing in plain sight. Now He used that skill to render himself so non-descript and unremarkable that those other dark elves who stood in his presence would not remember his face an hour after he has left. The Masked Lord had taken interest in this child -- even if it was from a distance. He took notice of Malus' growing talent for stealth and deception and sent a Avatar to him to help him hide from officials that sent him hiding out within the Wilderness of the Underdark. The Avatar directed him to a group of Hidden Followers near-by. These clerics revealed Vhaeraun's teachings to Malus and described the role the Mask Lord envisioned for his talented new follower, and the young drow enthusiastically entered into the ranks of Vhaeraun's devoted. As his first task, Vhaeraun dispatched the young follower to remove a particularly troublesome matron mother, who was coming too close to exposing the Masked Lord's hidden opposition to Lolth. Malus eliminated the threat cleanly and efficiently. He framed a rival house for the matron's death, touching off a wave of retributive assassinations that conveniently took the lives of several other enemies of the Masked Lord. However, The Masked Lord, as pleased as he was sent Malus on pilgrimage, off to the Lands of the Far East. Here, It was Decreed to let Malus DeVir die and the Name, Valkryn Valdrin Jabbuk - Loosely translated as 'Unseen Shadow Master' - to be born. Valkryn was to be trained in the Ways of the Far East, learning some of the ways Warrior/Samurai Code with the Scorpion Clan, strengthing his Body and Mind and then twisting the tenants of the bushido to His own needs and schemes in Vhaeraun name. There, thanks to the contacts the Clergy of Vhaeraun set up, He learned the Clans Deadly art of warfare and fighting. He trained night and day relentlessly ... being a Drow had given him a slight advantage over the humans he trained with as he had plenty of time to deeply study his lesson to perfection. The life style, the culture, the Beliefs -- everything about the Far East fasinated him -- especially their code of honour, even among enemies. This helped mold and shape his outlook at life, making him the man he is today. After Some time training, he returned to the Realms, adventuring abit upon the night above and the Underdark -- never once forgetting the night his family died and the promise he made to never become a puppet to the spider queen. He came across the lands of Camelot Reborn, and Saw oppertunity. Like how he saw his own people under the slavery rule of the Spider Queen, to him, it was a place of Lies, .... a Fairy tale needed to be brought back to reality. And here, as well is where he met one of very few people he has felt a connection to. Gia from House Navere. House Navere -- (known as Chesstrin Aleanl'und -- It's Ancestral Name) was a Minor House within the Ranks of Menzoberranzan. Linked to Merchant Clans, It was a Steady Feature within the city Bazzar for Centuries. Until The Day Shi'nnyl Navere Became Matron Mother. The Ambitious Shi'nnyl on the surface seeked opportunities for trade, all the while gathering information on not only The Nobles of Menzoberranzan, but the surface realm, and was thus Able to establish a holding within the cities Upper Class. They were also keen to bring lone sheep back within the fold; re-adopting rogue or houseless yet Powerful females and cleansing the world of drow who don't worship Lolth. If the drow had a spanish inquisition -- House Navere under Shi'nnyl would have be it. Indeed, this might be a good analogy for describing House Navere. Where others were powerful militarily, Navere play a supporting role as church and With Supplies thanks To it's links to the Merchant Clans. House Baerne rewarded such Promise And Loyalty to the Spider Queen By giving Chesstrin Aleanl'und a LARGE Drow Outpost/Fortress Between Menzoberranzan and Ched Nasad to Further It's Activities in Trade and Information Gathering. Eventually A City Began To Grow around The Fortress called Rivvin Che'el. Matron Mother Shi'nnyl Navere had only Three Children. Chaka, Thaydin and Gia. She was Insistant on Her Children Becoming PROPER DROW -- Lessons in Etiquette and Culture. Chaka & Gia were to Be Ladies Of The Court, Thaydin a Prince. Shi'nnyl spared No expense. As Her House Rose in Status Seemingly Everyday, she wanted Herself and children to Reflect That Risen Status in Power. Chaka Became engrossed in Her Studies. Gia However Did not and found It Boring. Thaydin was known to rebel against his Mother wishes just to get a rise out of her -- a Fact that Often Irraited his Mother. During this Time, Shi'nnyl started gathering information on a Place Called Camlot Reborn. To ensure her Soldiers Loyalty andd to Test her Daughters, She sent Chaka and Gia with them. Around this Time, Both Daughters had met a Lone possible Rogue Male Drow who claimed the name Valkryn Valdrin Jabbuk. After Reporting about this 'Rogue Male' who seem to stick his nose in the House Business, Shi'nnyl took notice that Her Daughter, Gia took exception to this upstart. Untrusting Of this Male, She Kept A Eye on Both Him And Her Daughter, Ordering Her House Assassin -- and Secret Lover -- to Kill him If he became too much trouble. Gia & Valkryn Had Several Battles with Each Other Over this Time and there were times they Both Had to work together To further their Own Goals. At first, Shi'nnyl seemed Pleased That Gia and Chaka seemed To Despise this male and Thought His death Might prove Good For Gia. But Something Odd Happened Between Gia & Valkryn. The More They Battled each other - the more they began to respect each other - something that eventually turned to something much more. This did NOT sit well with Shi'nnyl, and She ordered Her Soldiers and the House Assassin to Kill Him. The patrol Attacked and Left Him for Dead, But He survived -- thanks in part to Gia's aide as she Nursed Valkryn back to Health. Feelings Grew Deeper From there for Gia and Valkryn and the two had a Son Named Valas -- much to Shi'nnyl Navere's Disgust. This Angered Shi'nnyl to no end and She Demanded this man's Heart For Lloth and Ordered Her daughter To Stay away from him for Being weak. Things Eventually Came to a head as Valkryn Killed The House Assassin and Eventually Shi'nnyl in a Assassination Attempt. The Death of Shi'nnyl left The Position of Matron Mother Open. Naturally, Chaka -- Being the Oldest would Have Taken The position But Gia Proved herself more cunning as She laid Claim To the Title of Matron. Gia and Valkryn claimed to the name Na'Vire and Moved to the Fortress as Chaka Remained in Menzoberranzan to Continue Her Prietess Studies and Take Over the Family Home There. This Did Not sit well with the Ruling Councils of Menzoberranzan and Ched Nasad and they Sent out a joint Force To Destroy The new Upstart House. One Day Valkryn had heard that Chad Nasad Nobles had discovered they're Hidden agenda and that Lolth had decreed the House to Be destroyed, so he Lead a Raiding Party, with Renegade Drow Disgused as Loyal Soldiers of House Na'Vire, to take care of a problem from the invading Noble Raiding Party -- only for his own 'troops' to turn and attack him at a certain moment, at the same time, a Raid upon the Noble House itself Occured. He barely managed to defeated them at a great cost but upon his return, almost broken and bloodied He found the House Destroyed, the price paid for walking between House and Lolth, apparently. For A Long Time, Valkryn & Gia were Separated -- Each thinking the Other dead -- And the Status of House Navere Fell almost to the Point of Disfavour in the Eyes of Lolth. During this time, the City of Rivvin Che'el Dwindled to a Mere Trading post for Merchant Clans, as Gia Traveled All over, Most Notibly Helping establish Sanctuary within 'The Cradle', a Hostile place on the Surface, having Valas thought Killed in The Melee-Magthere (Drow Academy of Warfare) of Menzoberranzan and Giving birth to Her Half-Drow Daughter Elora. Valkryn Himself went mad with Grief, devoloping a Murdering Split Personality to sate his blood lust for Revenge and went on a personal war of Vengence - taking part in such acts such as the Destruction of Ched Nasad and The Seige of Menzoberranzan. Eventually, Valkryn and Gia reunited, shocked to discover the Other still alive. But Things had Greatly changed. Both Gia & Valkryn Had Gone through Alot in their Lives and the Two once again started to oppose each other again, using each other from Time To time. Gia Seemed to then gain notice again, Claiming the title of Matron of House Navere to re-earn her Place in favor in the eyes of Lolth, even taking a New patron in a former lover named Khaylin. Valkryn Swore to serve only Gia as Her Weapons Master but the two often fought - especially about Khaylin. Khaylin Died of Unfortunate and unforseen Circumstances and as Gia Moured, She Learned that Valas Was Still alive. Apparently a Lesser Ranked House Kidnapped Valas And Tried to Hold Him Prisioner as a Bartering Tactic To earn Favor or a Better Position in status but the Decline of House Navere ended those plans, so He was Kept as a Slave. Valkryn And Gia came Up with a plan To Finally Regain strength For House Navere and Rescuse Valas And with New Soldiers and Valkryn's Personal Shadow Vanguard, They Lead a Successful Raid and destruction of the House in question, rescuing Valas and Gia regain Full Favor in the Eyes of The spider Queen as Matron of House Navere. Since then, House Navere has reclaimed Position as 1st Ruling House of Rivvin Che'el, rebuilding the City to Full Glory aonce gain and regaining it's Position and Status Within Menzoberranzan and Ched Nasad. Valkryn and Gia has also Finally Committed to each other since they 1st made the oaths centuries ago in secret ceromony between only Valkryn and Gia, they performed the anicent ELVEN rite of BONDING, connecting them to each other for Life, death and Beyond. They each now know what the other knows, no matter where in the world they are, they feel what each other feel and experience what each other experiences (so sex is Pretty damn intense as you can imagine .. lol) Valkryn has Trained Gia's Half Drow Daughter, Elora Navere and Considers her very much his very own daughter and recently Gia and Valkryn had a new daughter together, Anja Navere. He works within the shadows and within House Navere, as it's Weapon Master and secret Qu'el'velguk to destroy those who would oppose Vhaeraun's agenda and guide House Navere into a Future - designed with Vhearuan's agenda in mind. Valkryn knows that one day, the female clerics of Lolth will finally be toppled from power. Then, at last, One day he will leave the shadows behind and take part in a new drow society in the reclaimed Night Above as a full and equal citizen. FLAWS: Criminial Honor Code: Valkryn lives by a Criminal Honour Code that included the tenants of the bushido, Twisted to suit that of Drow social outlook and those to suit his belief in Vhaeraun Cruelty: Valkryn takes genuine pleasure in inflicting pain upon others, and often in watching pain be inflicted. It is rarely satisfying to him to merely defeat his enemies when he can humiliate them or prolong their suffering as well. Her is not necessarily murderous, nor does he even necessarily like his cruel streak. Nonetheless, Valkryn feels a definite thirst for cruel, punishing solutions to his lifes problems at times - he desires those who interfere with him to suffer a commensurate degree of aggravation, pain, and loss before he overcomes them. A straightforward and sporting victory is an empty one, according to his heart. Clever cruelties fill him with joy - after all, he is not a mindless brute, but rather a shaper of punishments to fit the nature of each crime. Driving Obsession: Valkryn is totally consumed by a single far-reaching (and probably unattainable) goal -- destroy those who would oppose Vhaeraun's agenda and guide House Navere into a Future, designed with Vhearuan's agenda in mind. He knows that one day, the female clerics of Lolth will finally be toppled from power, free from the chaotic games Lolth plays with his people for her own amusements. Then, at last, One day they will reclaimed Night Above as a full and equal citizen - no longer puppets of a callous curel puppetteer. This obsession has become the cornerstone of his lifes work -- although he may occasionally be diverted from it by necessity, he always returns to it. As well, His passion for Gia is Another Driving Obsession ... he can't resist her and neither can she. they both know they should oppose and kill each other and at times they have - yet it only drives their passion for each other deeper. Duty/Responsibilty: Valkryn is bound by duty to Gia Navere and his Militiant Clergy. This is not simply a personal feeling of loyalty--it is an official capacity, a commitment that must be met, or there will be consequences--personal, social, and perhaps even criminal. Greed: While most heroic adventurers enjoy the rewards of their missions, Valkryn covets the acquisition of new material possessions to an extremely unhealthy degree. However, The lure of wealth is not what he wants, but the Power in Knowledge. Any chance has Valkryn trying to think up some scheme whereby he can get away with said Knowledge.. Explosive Temper: When Valkryn gets angry, he erupts -- losing control over his words and actions, and often making impulsive, heated decisions that he will later have cause to regret. Intolerance: Valkryn has an irrational dislike of certain things. Dwarves and Gnomes to the Extent of his Religious beliefs, but Paladins and their like have earned a healthy intolerance in Valkryn. From High Priestess' and Judicators of Lolth, to the Paladins upon the night Above, To Him, they have a narrowed-minded view on life. He Also has a mistrust and Dislike of Psionists .. Especially having to deal with Mind Flayers in the past, leaving him feeling Helpless and Veranable. Something he never wants to experience again. Nemesis {organization}: Valkryn has made an enemy of The powerful Church of Lloth for his out-spoken attitude towards their rule and Males. Scheming: Valkryn like big, complicated plots, the more the convoluted, the better. In fact, sometimes his schemes are so hard to grasp that his minions and allies screw them up entirely. It's so hard to find good help these days. in order to prevent you from doing things the easy way. It's not enough to kill an enemy; you have to lower him into a deadly maze, complete with lethal traps. Poor Reputation: (See Nemesis) Stubborn: Valkryn is thick-skulled and incorrigible at times -- whatever decision he makes and however he makes it, he expects to have his way. No appeal to duty, rationality, or friendship can penetrate this stubborn veneer without a fight. Valkryn is aggravatingly certain that he knows best about everything. He will fight to have his own way just about all the time, asserts his authority over others even when he doesnt have any, and disregards the good advice of those who know better even when its for his own clear good. In certain circumstances, he may swallow his pride and accept someone elses leadership without protest for some length of time. Vindictive Derangement/Insanity - Personality Disorders {Schizoid}: At Times, he seems Emotionally cold, aloof, indifferent to praise or criticism and keeps few friends. This would be the split personality side of him that names itself Venorsh D'Vesdrac. This condition came about years ago when Valkryn thought he lost Gia and his son Valas. Although the seeds of his insanity were planted by watching House Do'Urden annihilate House DeVir as a Child, It Exploded upon the grief of discovering everything he had was taken away by a callous unforgiven Goddess. His Murderous, Cold Calculating side of Him Too over, giving him strength to carry our a personal war of Vengence, Silently killing those Responsible over a Century ... the Assassin side of him gain a repuation and took the face of his Holy Item, a Black Ivory Skull shape Jesters Mask which doubles as his holy Item to Vhaeraun. When Valkryn discovered the truth and that Gia had survived, the split personality switched gears and put Gia in with all the Grief Valkryn had suffered .. and Now he seems to be in constant battle for control over his Split Personality. Posts: 2 11/27/05 11:10 PM	All right, here's a character idea I think could work very well in this campaign, add some interesting dimensions and possibilities, but is oddball to a very great degree. I hope you like it, providing you even read past the second line Name: Laecemia Race: Faerunian Ha-Naga (Colossol Magical Beast) Class: Cleric of Talos Alignment: Neutral Evil bordering on True Neutral and Chaotic Evil. Age: 916 Length: 113 feet Weight: 2226 pounds Scales: Black (See below for why this is) Eyes: Emerald Green Deity: Worshipper of Talos, supporter of Vhaerun and Eilistraee. Or, for that matter, any deity opposed to Lolth. Notable Traits: A belief that "one death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic." Laecemia has burned cities to ash, slain armies and thousands of innocents in his wake, and feels no guilt for it. But slaying an individual assassin is somethin he's greatly reluctant to do. Arrogance and ridiculously complex planning mixed with the sheer presence to make one certain the arrogance is no mere vanity, and in no way displaced, and to convince anyone that he can afford foolish plans to go awry. A bizarre hatred of almost all enchanted items, with the occaisional exception made for jewelry. He refuses to even use enchanted arms and armour that are designed for his kind (though these are rare). His final notable trait is a combined hypocrisy; he bears a hatred of leaders, nobility, and the concept of slavery, yet he himself has a surprising number of followers in his wake, entirely devoted to him. Laecemia claims his leadership is an undemanding one, and he allows his subjects freedom. Abridged Background: The first hundred years of his life saw Laecemias deceptive cunning raising him to prominence among his Ha-Naga brethren, and also saw it come time for him to leave. What followed were two hundred years of terror-filled ballads and exaggerated stories to children centered around the Chameleon Wyrm who would fly from the sunlight slinging balls of flame from thin air, burning villages and cities, carrying their treasure to the next city in as many trips as it took, then burning that city, finally amassing himself a mound of gold and jewels higher than lesser nobles castles. As one might expect, a colossal Naga atop an even large pile of wealth draws a little attention. And so it came to be that Laecemias reign was short-lived. In the early dawn of one day of Laecemias 311th year, six sandaled priests came with the intent of slaying this worm or driving him from their lands. One served Helm, one Tempus, one Tyr, one Torm, one Pelor. The follower of Tempus was first to fall, as his first mighty spell dispersed into the air when the stone below him turned to mud. The Naga wasted no time in following his first spell with a green ray that erased the priest from existence, far as the eye can see. Mayhap there are a few bits of dust of him somewhere, the dust that makes the wind howl in mourning of ill-though-out preparation. While the priests cast Scrying spells to find their lethal foe, the cleric of Pelor fell. He was slain by natural means, for the goodly whelp was too fragile for Lucemia to ever grace with his innate magics. A tail whip, the stab of a barbed, envenomed stinger, and a colossal bite that tore his body in jagged and uneven sixths were all the time the devout of the Sun required. Torms servant lost his spell, one that would have crushed the vile serpent in his own pile of gold, a fitting end for the beast he had just come to see. These sort of errors happen when your companions head and shoulder, with a lung and half a heart dangling out, strike you precisely on your head, by stroke of magnificent luck. The remaining three clerics gazed at one another. This beast would not die with them still living. Their was some hideous spite consuming it that, it seemed, would protect it from any death it was not willing to accept. His hands already clenched as he prepared to pray for everything he had, the Helmite cried This creature is too cruel to die through mortal hands! The others understood. There was an old prayer, an invocation forbidden to most mortals, one of great power, so much that it took two men to cast; all three were praying in the hopes that only one would be slain. None were, for the prayer was answered before there was ever a chance for the Ha-Naga to rear his head. It was a prayer to call upon a power only one God had used in all recorded history, but now again three Gods were conjoined it; the banishment of a creature from the surface. Before, it had been a whole race, not it was one being, but the crackle of power surging through the mortal priests told them this was still no petty invocation. Laecemia was banished from the surface, more completely than the Drow ever were; if he left the Underdark, he would die. Perhaps, it was some pity of one of the three Gods that compelled them to tell him of his affliction, perhaps it was some condition of the spell, perhaps it was foolish bragging. Either way, Laecemia knew quite well that if his touched the surface, he would be irrevocably struck down. Still, he did not believe it; not the definite nature of it. He knew he would find a way to return to the surface. Perhaps not permanently, but long enough to make those whod done this to him, or their heirs, pay. In 605 years, he has not yet accomplished this, but still it has never slipped his mind. The Drow, at least the males, were never of any annoying, hindrance, or anger to Laecemia as he struck out and stretched his boundaries in the Underdark. He kept himself away from their cities; their gems werent so fine as those of the Duergar, and they were a cruel and vengeful people that simply made attacks upon much more trouble than any sensible Ha-Naga would waste on such petty, dainty trinkets. The old Matron Baenre, now dead, did not see fit to exercise the same neutrality. Laecemia despised the haughty priestesses, and the haughtiest and most devout among them most of all. He would very much like to have snapped her in his jaws with the ferocity he slew that weakling Cleric of Pelor. Still, even he knew when he was outmatched, and this was one of those times. Scrying him alerted him of her coming, and it was then he understood her underestimation of his powers would be his survival. In a quickly concocted (and characteristically ornate) scheme, Laecemia faked his own death in the battle. The process was taxing; he had to absorb a powerful invocation of dispelling that forever removed his colour-shifting scales, changing them to his colour of choice (he chose black, since in the lightless hell he called home, it was nearly equally concealing), and he had to resist some of her most powerful prayers, feeling the personal hatred of Lolth upon his back, and some of those times he was certain his survival had been narrow. But it worked. The old bitch left him in his chambers, unmoving and covered in illusionary blood. She was smiling like an arrogant fool, mayhap she was, as she heard his final curse slip from his lips. He liked to think the common folk-oath among his people to cause Luck to turn its back upon the victim had later led to her death, as foolish as he knew it was. So it came about the famed Ha-Naga Lucemia, famed as the sunwyrm, living in a lightless land, came upon his second quest of vengeance. Lolths followers had been too proud for too long, and hed see them fall, alone or with an army of the Drow and the Illithid and anyone else who didnt want to live under their tyranny for one damned more day behind him. He found Vhaeruns priests quickly, through the Drow among his subjects, and when he was certain they could be trusted as servants of Vhaerun, let them know a mighty serpent lived whod like to annihilate their nemesis just as much as they would, perhaps. Once the time of troubles were past, Laecemia decided to take the first steps towards his vengeance; he began to learn the vocation of a cleric. Combining his natural sorcerous magic with the divine prayers of a cleric, and bringing himself closer to a deity hed always felt akin to, Laecemia threw his lot in as a cleric of Talos. In the time since then, his natural affinity for magic has allowed him to rise swiftly in his powers as a cleric, and hes sensed that the time for him to come out of hiding and actively take a role in his vengeance is at hand. Using his clerical prayers, invocations from the domains of Storms (OOC: Air) and Death, and the sorecerous powers with which his kind are born, Laecemia is ready to destroy Lolth's priestesses, or at least put them in their place. Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Bio: Lysander was originally a cautious self-serving human rogue who would join groups of adventurers in search of gold. He would take particular joy in doing the things that other members of his group could not; trap finding, trap disabling, picking locks, disabling locks, scouting up ahead... he would never join groups of adventurers that already have rogues in them, because there is nothing he despises more than having a rival who could jepordize his position as a vital member of the adventuring group. Durring one of his adventures, he gained a tooth of tongues (an odd item which is placed into his mouth in place of a tooth already there. it grants -2 to charisma due to its bulky nature, and grants the user tongues. He can speak and understand all spoken languages. futhermore, if the tooth is ever removed, the user dies.) he ended up being caught in a dark-matter explosion that severly mutated him, changing his physical appearance and personality. He had a glove of holding on at the time, with 50 feet of silk rope inside of it.... the two items are now fused together as well as to his hand, causing him to be able to snap his fingers and produce 50 feet of rope from his hand, which remains attatched to him at the palm. These were not the only items fused to his body, he also had 6 iune stones imbedded in his head, slippers of spider climb fused to his feat, and a ring of feather as part of his hand. His physical appearance was initially purple and he had lost all of his body hair (I had a particulairly cruel DM). His personality changed drastically, from a mild mannered and self serving human, to an insane, arrogant creature, on a neverending quest to gain money/ jewelry (which he loving calls shinies) and he gained a british accent (i had fun with this one.). He was not the only one mutated in this explosion, there was a greatsword weilding half-orc fighter with him by the name of Keth. Keth's skin became purple, and he had black scar-markings all along himself. Because of the nature of their mutations, they realized they will never be able to trust any of their former companions anymore, and have since had a brother-like kinship. They have risked their lives to save each other's and would gladly do so again. They are currently the only people they care about enough to actually put their lives on the line. Lysander had always been unhappy with the way he appeared physically and went to great lengths to be what he calls "fixed". He had the all the magical items fused to him removed accept for the glove of holding containing the 50 feet of silk rope, had his pigmentation changed to black with red markings, had his eyes changed to white, and had his body hair given back to him. Because of his odd physical appearance, he has been mistaken for a drow in the past. He admires the drow for their evil tendancies and identifies with them as outsiders in a world full of heroic Paladins, and other do-gooders. He now seeks to embrace drow culture, having said good-bye to Keth (though hopefully not for good), and has set off to (hopefully) find somewhere where he belongs... Enjoys: Death (of opponents / those he doesnt know or carea about), Shinies (gold, platinum, and jewelry), infiltration, assasination, riots, sufferings (of others), Keth, Watching Keth evicerate opponents with his Greatsword. Dislikes: Those who shun him, Good-alinged religions, being caught while infiltrating, suffering (himself), other rogues, Good-alinged creatures, forgetting his masterwork theives tools at home, being hairless. Description: He is about 5'6" tall, has black skin with red markings, has short black hair, white eyes, and an oversized metal tooth which protrudes from his mouth even when it is closed. He ussually wears a dark coloured explorers outfit paired with a Mithril chainshirt. He caries a Sythe, and wears a backpack. Because of his choice of weapons and odd appearance, he has been mistake in the past as the following; Drow, Fighter, Black-Gaurd, Hexblade. Personality traits: Good: Loves Keth like a brother. Neutral: Impatient, unique, quirky. Evil: Violent, Sadistic, Blood-thristy, Cruel, Hateful, Selfish. Vlos has two childern within her family, they are Elghinn Arisa and Olath b'luth'ol . Vlos has a tendacy to go on raids in the surface to attack there "kind hearted" cousins (the elves). unlike any other drow she has been bless with a gift that allowed her to see normaly in the light aswell as the dark. the night a dwarf by the name of bruneur ( i cant spell his name right...sorry:[ ) lost his home of mythril hall, Vlos Ciiholtryio was there aiding the duergars. she was dearly wounded in that battle by the king of mythril hall himself at the time of the fight. but somehow she saw though and made it out of there slaying some duergars on her way back. after witch she actually stepdown from being the matron of House ciiholtryui, thirty seventh house of menzoberranzan and traveled to the surfice. from there she headed north and found a cave aloung the spine of the world where it looked like one had take refuge there before. About 133 years later the drow female returned to the underdark to a town she had never seen before. and now she longs to find out more about it. Hair: Shaved for Du Rag Skin: off-red Eyes: Brown If you dont want to read this scroll to bottom Virkh is an oddity among his people his skin is actually red and among other things he seems to exibit more strength, cunning, and just plain will a rouge by nature and a theif by choice he makes his liveing in the Underdark although his race puts him at a down side he is more than willing to play the "underling" until his goal is met or he can drive a dagger through there back. Virkh was born in the wilds of the underdark and from the start was diffrent his skin a strange hue of red he quickly dominated the tribe and many others his only flaw was he in his arrogance thought himself above all and was only use to other goblins or some orcs he atacked drow scouts his army quickly dispatched by a battle mage and he brought into the city as a prize catch for his rare color and skill. Virkh quickly escaped his masters with more that a little luck on his side and liveing in the slums learned the art of a thief, avoiding the nobles on there rampages through the slums and makeing his life praying on those weaker than him and without the skill to stop his sticky fingers. Virkh hated and admired the drow who lorded over him he made his own small hand crossbow made for his small goblin hands and and a stolen blade he's mounted on a strange piece of wood he found on an unfortunate dorw mage he found face down in the street also takeing the drows earings makeing three for each ear he wears light clothwith belts tieing his tunic and pants closed and one over his chest holding his hand crossbow small bolst and his sword and also the middle metal piece of a wooden shield he broke of and riged up and with toe less boats and a stip of cloth tied around his head covering the strange drow indflicted scars on his head. Virkh difrence from his goblin kin makes him oblvious to the magic in his ear rings and wooden handel cant even use the arcane art but also gives him a high resistance to it. Virkh finally after witnessing a drow noble on noble death fled Menzoberanzen and took jobs on the surface finally finding his way back to the underdak and Menzoberanzen he went about his theiveing except he moved up in class to lower nobles, Virkh loveing the risk and haveing great luck finally ran into his first bad streak. Rumaging through a room for anything shiny he stumbled into another theif kidnapped by the drow he was taken and put to work for drow and taught more and more until he was good, damn good at being a theif he found his masters where Bregan D'aerthe and he finally earned membership his heritage leting him slip in and spy poseing as a slave. Virkh now stationed in Sschindylryn city of portals curtently takeing a vacation from his mercenary life and paying homage to his god Vhaerun. Traits: Flaws- None to low aracne ability, Noble brand and scars, Skin color. Benifiets- Knows when to flee, Arcane resistance, Nimble fingers. What events, circumstances, or experiences have had a major impact on your character's way of thinking: When Alya was 72 she join the raiding parties to better serve the church. On one such raid she had the misfortune to meet with the blade of a Paladin and fell. She woke a few days later in the care of a female human with hair as red as blood no where near the city they had attacked. She was called Larisa and the dervish tribe had been traveling through the area where she was discovered. Larisa became a lover as well as a convert and always told Alya 'Be as the wind, listen to the storm, and care for the whims of your spirits'. Alya remained with the group of dervish for ten years becoming one with the dance of the dervish but never losing her faith in her own deity. After Larisa's death Alya returned home to Cormanthor badly wounded. The clan accepted her back as her father sacreficed a great deal to allow it but those of the clergy closest to Alya realized she had allowed her attachment to her human lover to weaken her spirit and only living for the church would damage her usefulness. She proved that she was loyal but the passion that once burned bright in her had been lost. So the clergy made her a more active member ,forcing her hands to steady and let strength to them. In a attempt to rekindle her passion she was introduced to the 'Masked Traitor' named Auna. She then found herself in the arms of Auna, whom was a xcleric of lolth, who tended to be incredibly voilent and also with her lover Neel, male drow weapon master of there respected clan. Alya found she enjoyed Auna's abuse and continued to come back for more even against her father's advise to disconnect from her new lovers. Auna made it possible for Alya to increase her skill at the sword while getting away with murder while in her services. Yet at the same time Alya remained incredibly loyal to her birth clan and still continued as her father desired. As Yaztran, Alya's father disliked Auna and Neel finding them to be a weakness that was hindering his daughters abilities he requested she be transferred to the services of the churches in the underdark. As Yaztran held much sway do to his craft and charm the clergy accepted his request. Alya obeyed as her faith came before all else and began the trip to the underdark with the aid of a wizard teleporting to and from as the church commanded. As Auna continued to try to distract her lover Alya was sent to serve the church of Sshamath for a time period unknown but to those of the elders of the church. Her thoughts still remain with that which best benefits the church however she has found that she has a great weakness for the pleasures of the flesh. In a near death incedent Auna was forbidden to see or speak to Alya for her mistreatment and was sent into the underdark to return to the missions there. Alya was once again without the passion that she needed to profit the clan. Alakas one of the clan wizards had returned from his travel shortly after and took a notice of Alya. He bestowed a Double Scimitar upon her which at least revived the fighter in her and she increased with practice with the blade. As Alakas hope he would be the next to bed Alya he begin to spoil her and try to get her attention. When she was sent to Sshamath Alakas sacreficed a great deal of his personal wealth to go with Alya and to aid the church. Looking back, how would your character describe the past five to ten years of his/her life, both professionally/academically and personally/socially: Upon her return to her family she returned to her father's favor and also to Vhaeraun's as she further devoted her existence. She took up the craft of a jeweler making that which she sacrificed worth more then just the simple gem. As her father was the expert jeweler of the clan she was the one entrusted with the task of delivering the goods to where they where needed. Mostly her art and her father's went to the hands of powerful wizards who would then enchant the pieces. Alya has gained favor with a few that she has caught they eye of not only for her skill but her beauty. She is also looking to expand her clientele and has spoken with a few of the clerics whom also seem to have a interest. Describe home life while growing up: Yaztran was very protective of Alya as she was the first born. She was 'given' to Vhaeraun upon her birth and as such has received his blessing for every step of her existence. The faith of her clan came before all else including there own comfort and she agreed with her faith completely. Being the eldest Alya was expected to achieve greatestness far beyond that expected of her siblings but was normally able to achieve what was asked of her. Most painful thing in your character's life: In the battle that claimed Larisa's life Alya was paralysed by a poison arrow and was forced to watch her suffer a long tortured death. She then suffered a great deal of torture as she was taken prisoner by the group of bandits. In her escape she slew all those who lay a hand on Larisa and herself but at the coast of having a hatchet re wounding the exact same place the paladin had struck her. SENSE OF LIFE What is the important thing to know about your character: Where she is easygoing she is still very much drow. The wealth she gains from the art of jewelry is something she enjoys and will not risk her relationships with the Duergar and humans that provide her the gems she needs to create her arts. While creating jewelry is one of the few times that Alya relaxes allowing the gem to tell her how to place it however in focusing on the task at hand she does open herself up to attack. She hates to be left alone and in fact finds it to be the worse punishment ever to be bestowed upon her so seeks out companionship. How self-aware is she: Alya is lacking in the department of wisdom so her common sense is slow to tell her to flee however will obey a order from superiors. Philosophy of life: Vhaeraun guides with unseen hands. Follow or die! Main goal in life: To serve Vhaeraun and see the faith continued no matter what the cost. Short term goals: Find allies within her new community favoring those with the ability to heal. Long term goals: To out do her father's skill in the craft of jewelry and to increase her ability with the sword Hobbies/pastimes: Alya takes great pleasure in the creation of the jewelry she creates regardless of where it will go upon it's completion. Most pressing problem: To benefit the church without being caught in Lolth's web. What traits really make your character come alive: Alya's faith is what she lives for so any threat directed at the church calls her to action. She will not stand by and watch a rogue male or female killed by the spider kissers if she has the power to stop it. Outstanding qualities: Loyal to her allies once they have proven to be worth her time. She has incredibly sharp eyes and tends to appraise all she comes in contact with. She has excellent taste and tends to ignore rudeness and outward anger seeing it as a mask. Inferior qualities/faults: She is weak to the attack of magic. Tragic Flaw: Red heads of either gender instantly steal Alya's attention and she allows herself to be more easily swayed by them. She borders on lecherous and is masochistic do to her last relationship. Jealous Lover- Auna nearly killed Alya after sex leaving her bleeding . Neel who was also fairly well battered from sex with Auna and Alya was the only reason she survived as he brought one of the clergy to heal Alya. Auna has been forbidden from seeing Alya or speaking with her in anyway do to the great cost of losing Alya as not only a skilled fighter but jeweler whom donated often. Auna was sent back into the field with Neel at her side as normal to Menzoberranzan. When she heard news of Alya being sent to Sshamath, Auna sent Neel a head of her to try to win over Alya in hopes that she would not fall for another before she was able to get to her and have the church revoke there statement with better treatment of her lover. The new rule would be no blood which of course left more then enough play still. Now I'm going to take a chance and go out on a limb in hopes that this guy here will pique somebody's interest. He's a little bit odd, I admit, but I like him, and I hope you consider him. Adopted Name: Trinn'tele Sarol (alcohol weapon) Race: Drow Gender: Male Class(es): Monk/Drunken Master Age: 178 Height: 5' Weight: 103 lbs. Hair: White, and extends down slightly past his shoulders Skin: Ebony black Eyes: Deep green Appearance: Lean athletic build, obviously a fighter. Also seems to be constantly wavering, as if permanently inebriated. His green eyes seem out of place between the commonplace and simple features of his face. Also odd, he seems to lack any scars or other marks of battle, despite obviously having the physique to be a fighter. Wears black, leathery pants and a simple loose hanging dark blue shirt. He wears sleek black silk gloves on both hands. Personality: He is constantly on the defensive, as he posseses traits that many drow would see as a weakness (such as his rampant alcoholism and complete lack of foresight with money). Due to his percieved (and real) flaws, he is quick to anger and quicker to brawl. This of course lands him in many situations that he would rather not deal with on his own, so he often times tries to escape the consequences of his actions by stealthily removing himself from the situation at hand. In other words, he talks loud, fights hard, and leaves silently. He is an alcoholic, which is the main reason he developed his rather unorthodox method of fighting. Posts: 1 01/25/06 12:24 PM	Ok, so your campaign is more drow than not in the current lineunless we have a real curve to throw at youso heres the wind up, aaannnddd the pitch!: Name: (Known as Xith to the Illithid, real name unknown, even to himself) This character is actually several characters wrapped up in a twisted shell. Class: Rogue, Prestige: (possibly) Mindspy (As modified by whatever level racial adjustments are applied for greater doppelgangers) Race: Greater Doppelganger As the former plaything/experiment of Illithid scientists this Doppleganger was raised and trained specifically by the Illithid to infiltrate Drow society and spy on the significant goings on therein. However, their spy's greatest power became a greater problem when he encountered and managed to destroy (with the help of the Illithid) a Drow male (Molbrek) of significant social stature, unusually strong personality and secretive nature. The Drows personality subsumed his own after Xith was forced to retain the form for far too long under the watchful and always suspicious eyes of the dark Elves. The prolonged time in character eventually forced his twisted upbringing and terribly handling at the tentacles of the Illithid into a shadowed corner of his mind that he can no longer voluntarily access. For most intents and purposes, Xith 'is' Molbrek, but he reflexively employs his doppelganger abilities when he slays an opponent to sustain himself. But even in private and in his true self-imaginings, he thinks of himself as Molbrek. As a corrupted Creature, Xiths true form is nightmarish and so is his true mind, is effect he is terrified of his true self and therefore clings tenaciously to his Mol'brek personna. His true alignment is Chaotic Evil, but his apparent alignment as Molbrek is Lawful Evil. As Molbrek, he utilizes the shadow adept skills to the betterment of Vhaerauns following and uses his disguise ability ([i]he is psychologically blind to how he takes on other forms, so long as he does not see his own true form[/i]) to aid in infiltration and destruction of his patrons enemies. Personalities he currently carries: (general concepts) Molbrek [High Ranking Drow Sorcerer /Shadow Adept, Male, loyal to Vhaeraun, NE] UrFestith [High Ranking Githyanki Knight, Male, CE, 'former' Illithid prisoner] Lady Dox Grethor [Mid-Ranking Drow, Priestess of Llolth, female, CE, earlier victim of Xith] As for the sexual aspects of this character, as 'he' is acting as Mol'brek, he is attracted to the most austere and severe drow females, but with a bitter, domineering attitude. His corrupting touch generally results in the destruction of those he seduces (male or female) and his psychological blindness kicks in at climax, where 'he' kill/consumes his 'lover'. As a truly hermaphroditic and identity subsumed entity, when Xith is impersonating a female, he readily assumes the sexuality of one, in a most convincing manner.
