Can I play??? | #62 | ||
|
I have been using your site to research info on drow for a couple days. I got caught up in your game, thaught it might be fun, and figured I should try. I might need a little help getting started, I don't play dnd online often, though I play a lot, I don't know the difference between the 3 and 3.5 editions. I'll look it up on the wizrads of the coast website, just tell me if a mess up. I have at least one friend who would like to play as well , a few more are trying to decide(I didn't want to be the only one I knew in person to try). I know enough about drow culture to get by, and I am brushing up on it, as well as reading R.A.Salvatore's The legacy of the Drow.
I was mainly wondering what level characters we should submit, I read your page on char creation and it said lvl 13, is that add to the cr of drow? Or do I just make a drow char with 13 pc lvls? I have an idea for a character with a different fighting style, I tried it out, but it still needs to be tested. The char uses two rapiers, has high dex. Takes the two weapon fight, ambidex., expertise, imp. crit (rapier) etc. feats so that he/she can gain as much bonus to attack and ac as they can. The main idea behind the character is to set it up with two rapiers enchanted with a continous true strike spell. (caster lvl 1 times spell lvl 1 times use activated (though you could use command word) 2000=2,000 times unlimited use 20=40,000. I also read somewhre about a special metal that does an extra 2d6 damage to elves, weapons cost +8,000 with it. That would total 96,000 for both weapons. The character I made to test with first was a lvl 5 that got just one sword (even though it costs too much for a lvl 5 to get normally) She had a +38 attack and 26 AC normally (the expertise feat and leater greater expertise would stack ac up a lot more, it's also by my friend's rules, and he tweaks char. and allows them to be slightly stronger than normal pc's, so my char. wouldn't be quite that strong, more like +30 attack at the same lvl) That was with a rouge char. A fighter would be even stronger, but would sacrifice skills. So I ask, what kind of campaign do you play? Would a rouge's skills help more than the extra attack? Anyway, the char would attack with disarm movements with the +38 and most likely rip the weapon away from the oponent. Imp. crit would set the crit threat to 15-20/x2 Really helpful if unable to disarm someone. The main story line (short version) His house was mostly destroyed, his dad taught him to fight without doing great injury to the opponent, useful for capture attempts (uses subdual damage attacks and forfeits a small part of the attack bonus for it) Both him and his dad are under Vhaerun's teachings. His dad was killed a couple years before I start playing (if accepted) but left him a magic chest. The chest won't let him open it until he's powerful enough (meaning enough money to buy a sword if he had too, I would just rather him get them as presents from his dad.) and only lets him take certain items out of it. I would likes it to hold the two true strike swords I described earlier, and a few other magic items at DM's descretion. He has strange a slight code of morals, but they don't go to deep. He has some strange ideas for being a drow, but ussually tries to keep them to himself. He is somewhere between nuetral and evil in allignment. His sister(if my friend is also accepted, we thought it might be a good roleplay opportuninty) is a priestess of lolth.(She would like to be some type of druid that summons underdark creatures, but she wouldn's mind playing an arachnomancer (unless you already have one). That's about all I could think of for now, please E-mail me at Rustywolf13@yahoo.com or Randall_C_3@Homail.com when time allows you and tell me if I'm accepted or not. Also tell me if you think my idea of a char. is at least interesting and would be worth my time trying to make it better. |

Hi there, welcome to the boards
I don't have a lot of time right at the moment, so I'll have to be brief for now. For the actual campaign, we only allow new players as we have room for them. At the moment we have a full roster of players (only four to a group, unfortunately, as that's what the D&D game system is based around). We use D&D 3.5 rules system with little to no modification (the optional rules that we do use are in official supplements). There's a Waiting List in this section of the boards, where you can post your character concept if you'd like. When the time comes that we need another player, we choose someone from the list. The players are required to have an ECL 3 and an ECL 28 character as of the present time (full normal rules apply where LA is concerned). Now, as for roleplaying here on the message boards, that's open to anyone at any time, and you can use whatever game system's rules that you like. Just find a thread that interests you and join on in. Or you can start up a new thread (and hence a new storyline) of your own. For now, I've gotta run, though I will say that the constant/unlimited True Strike wouldn't be allowed if you should be accepted Challenge in life is inevitable...defeat is optional.

i have borrowed the book in hardcopy. i will try to get it on file to ya soon. i AM excited on gettin in the game, but am limited in my 'puter tech moroness. . .Workin it out.
Then there is the focus on the real world crashing in . . . The character that i have in mind would be similar to Valas in the SpiderQueen books. Maybe 5th level rogue, 8th level scout if the 13th is the cut off. Joining in at the epic stage that you guys are in would take some boosting, so i will try to work up another stage of the character if ya say it will fly. i know this is vague right now, and i'm not rollin very fast with it right now, but i am serious and will step up when i am truely ready to devote the necessary time. Thanx for the patience, ted Like i said -the file will be forthcoming, somehow. |

Hi
I'm new here. I just found the website , etc. I am VERY interested in getting involved in an online DnD community that focuses on the Underdark and Drow especially. I own NWN 2 but I find that it is too difficult to find a good persistent world or a decent group to play drow in. I just want to play some DnD with a good story and a drow character and play "in character". Is this whole thing still going on? Are there any campaigns starting soon? Like I said... I am VERY interested. I am an avid reader of R.A.Salvatore's novels and soon am going to start reading the other novels which involve Drow. Questions about a possible character concept | #69
|
Good day,
First off I would like to say how nice it is to find such a nicely detailed site. I am glad I am not the only one that spends a large amount of effort on their hobbies *chuckles* I have recently developed a character concept that involved Drow almost exclusively so I was glad to come across such a forum. Though mine is a bit odd so I would rather ask you to read the character history and tell me if it would be at all possible to institute him into the campaign. I would like to ask here just incase I missed something that has been posted but I read no definate negatives. Of course I understand as well that also being a unique devil would make him epic level and I can understand if that is a problem as well. Thank you in advance for taking time for consideration. http://www.geocities.com/munchkin_gamer35/zalidarnsir.html |

Classes? Races? | #70 | ||
|
Hey, just wondering before I go into too much gory detail with my character if the class Duskblade from the PHB 2 would be alright to use. Also, it was
mentioned earlier about Fey'ri being used, and I notice that one character is the offspring of a drow male and eirenys and I wonder if it would be possible
to use a fey'ri as a kind of template in a way, only instead of using traits from the sun elves, use the traits of the drow.
If they fey'ri thing is no good, it's all good, I've got plenty of other goodies in my hat.
Also, I figure I might as well ask before hand on this as well; would an (please pardon the expression) underground follower of Eillistraie would work. I'm thinking of quite a few things that could work into his own inner conflict.

Hello, we haven't played in a couple months as a group, but the boards are fairly active. Your best bet is to submit to the waiting list, then the
character archives and to jump in the fantasy thread on this board for immediate play. The waiting list could take a very long time, the boards are more
actove than our gaming group sonce 4th edition came out.

Your site was very well written.
All I can say is to submit to the waiting list and hope for the best!
But I recommend playing on the board exclusely because it is more active than our group and we are lax on concepts here...as basically anything goes and
anything is allowed.
You have a very good talent as a writer. I hope you are still around.
Thanks again for the gracious comments!

Hey hun, I believe we have corrodsponded through e-mails and I have helped you go through with the details. Sadly the fey'ri within our campaign did not
work out and since those years ago we have gone legit so if the game books say gold elf we go gold elf. Also the last person to play an actual good alignment
in our campaign, got booted out for conflict of interest and being argumentive with the DM over it. Neither would be a good concept to actially join our
campaign with, but I can't say we have much o a campaign left, as 4th edition has us stumped as a group and no one has been able to make up their mind how
we should proceed.
So keep your fey'ri eilistaree concept. I encourage you.

Questions from a noob | #74
|
Hi, I'm new to the whole on-line rpg thing, and I have some questions.
1)Does the campaign set entirely in the Under-dark, and does it go by a specific map (such as forgotten realms)? 2)My character is Good-Aligned and worships Eilistraee, is this a problem? 3) I've already established a back-story, and while the site said that was OK, will it affect the story? I apologize for being unable to find out these answers, but I'm a little confused, so if someone could answer, that would be great. |

No need to apologize, though I guess I should update the FAQ on the site.
1)Does the campaign set entirely in the Under-dark, and does it go by a specific map (such as forgotten realms)? It is set in the forgotten realms, but it does not follow specific maps except Sshamath. If we go elsewhere, it would be up to the DM. 2)My character is Good-Aligned and worships Eilistraee, is this a problem? Yes it could be, as we focus on the Vhaeraun faith and its odds agaist Lolth. But with the recent changes 4th edition to the gods, the actual campaign has been put on standstill until we figure out what to do and how to proceed. 3) I've already established a back-story, and while the site said that was OK, will it affect the story? It shouldn't as long as you can find a reason to be in Sshamath.

Is there a limit/ maximum or minimum number of flaws that we are obligated to take? OR can we just take a few for roleplay reasons and not for the extra feats?

Another quick question | #77
|
Are Shadowcasters from the DnD 3.5 book Tome Of Magic allowed? I was thinking of making a shadow-using wizard, but the wizard class with the alternative drow
feature from Drow Of The Underdark didn't seem to fit my idea. That's when I stumbled upon the Shadowcaster and felt that it could work pretty well. I
might even mix in a few levels of cleric of Vhaeraun and Mystic Theurge if that would be allowed. But, that would happen in character, not outside of it; I
like the idea of favoring that church as a shadowcaster, then joining it as a worshiper/cleric as opposed to just being one. ... wow, that was a lot longer
than I meant it to be. Sorry for the rant. ^^;;

Thanks, but there was also something I forgot to ask. What level do you start at? I put up my characters stats on my site (work in progress) as a level one
character, since most of the other campaigns I've been in start at level one. And if possible, are there any campaigns you guys have that will accept
good-aligned drow if this doesn't work out?
ps: How do you apply a qoute at the end of all your messages?
