Best way to know if there are any other drow campaigns is to do an internet search for them. Start here if you start a search yourself. CLICK ME! A couple of questions. Hopefully not too annoying...
First off, would a human warlock be all too farfetched, do you think? Don't want to go through the trouble of designing an indepth character concept for'm if there's no chance in hell. I mean, with the devil's sight invocation he'd fit right into the Underdark, neh? That's assuming warlocks are allowed, which I believe they are? Wanted to clarify that, and one more thing about warlocks. For their invocations, will there be no spell components, save for any associated XP cost, such as from permanently raising undead? As in, I could use a standard action to turn on and off spiderwalk, if I had it, without needing the associated materials for spiderclimb every time I wanted to use it? Finally, and this is probably something I should be able to find myself... How exactly do game sessions schedule? For some reason I seem to have missed that. As in, how does one know when the DM will be... Well... DMing. Is there any kind of set schedule for that, or is it just luck in being online at the same time as the other participants and the DM? ... Oh, sorry, one more... I'm not incredibly familiar with the Underdark, to be honest. Would basic knowledge be all that bad? I could, of course, read up on it somewhat to refresh what I do know... But it still won't be a whole that. That is yet another reason why I'd be making a character that would fit in the Underdark, but wouldn't know an incredible amount about it. |

We haven't gamed in months due to the DM's new work schedule. We are also trying to convert back to core rules so the transition has been slow. Your questions on sorcerers I cannot say for certain. I will have Mike try to answer that soon.
All classes from DnD are allowed unless the DM changes that. Which I doubt he will, as I know he likes variety. Your underdark knowledge needs to consist of the Lolth and Vhaeraun religions. Your human would be accepted if he ties himself to the city of Sshamath and a linkage to the Tower of Masked Mage or a prominant character like Xull'rae or NPC like the Shadow Sorcerer. We used to game weekly, sometimes twice a week if we could be available. We announce it on the board in the announcements forum under game times. Then we'd all remember time zones and be online apppropriately at the right time. Need aim or aol to chat and use rooms. We usually give a week advance notice to the time and day of the game session. To be insane is to have a lack of understanding of what one is doing to themselves and others in their surroundings. It is a disorder of the mind that prevents remembering ones actions clearly. So if you think you are insane, such a thought is a coherent one that defines you as sane.

Wow... I didn't even look at the last post date. =\
Alright, well, thanks for the answers. I likely have the neccessary knowledge of Lolth, and general drow society, save for Vhaerun who I can read up on easily enough... It's more the Underdark in general that I don't know much about. Such as geography, beastiary, and non-Drow social structure. Wasn't sure how important that would be. Edit: Wait, variety, eh? Hrm... How about a halfvampire human, then? |

Sorry this took so long to get back to you. After looking over the warlock carefully, including DnD's errata's and FAQ's regarding the class there is nothing about spending material costs except xp like you mentioned.
If you want to look over the FAQ yourself click here and scroll down to page 15 and 16 for all information regarding warlock To be insane is to have a lack of understanding of what one is doing to themselves and others in their surroundings. Hey there. Im really interested in joining this campaign, and I have one character concept in particular that I like. Right now its simple, but i can make it much more complicated for the sake of history if that is wanted.
Basically, Hes a bard named Ree'Veszbhin. His eyes are blue, and because of that he KNOWS hes not going to be liked, and probably be treated much worse than normal. So he wears a blindfold and calls himself the blind bard. I would like to clarify though if I could make it so the blindfold was see though for him only. |

Well no one has joined in a year or so. But you are welcome to join in on the boards in the quest and story line section, that is open to everyone at any time, but you are welcome to submit a concept to the waiting list. The blind bard concept will work, but only for a little whille is my guess, but you can try it out. Horock De'ath is blue eyed, KalanAun is blue eyed. Sshamath is not really going to pick on his eyes, they are open to any race, as it is a merchant city. And with our campaign focused more on the vhaeraunian faith than any other drow deity your char's strange colored eyes will be more than likely ignored. Unless you draw attention to yourself like Nathvas does. Vhaeraun accepts half drow just as if they were drow, especially males. How other drow will treat him or individually will depend on how he acts first.
My chacter Xull'rae is quite used to blue eyes by now, though she rarely treats people nicely. To be insane is to have a lack of understanding of what one is doing to themselves and others in their surroundings. It is a disorder of the mind that prevents remembering ones actions clearly. So if you think you are insane, such a thought is a coherent one that defines you as sane.

Re: "How to Join...." Q & A | #33

Okay, that last post cleared one of my questions (concerning half-drow).
My character's ORIGINAL background story is this: Vinny's Story Ravinnys Vinny Baenre is the son of Ryvalt Baenre, an evil Drow general, and Jannah Rae, a skilled human ranger. But he doesn't know that. He currently lives in Mithral Hall, making a good living by adventuring and selling trinkets and stuff. His earliest memory is of being raised by his uncle Debau ChEry and (while still a preteen) accompanying his older and more experienced cousins on stereotypical Drow killing raids. On these raids he learned the art of swordfighting, stealth, and finding trinkets and stuff and also developed a taste for faerie blood. During one of these raids, he was captured by an elven druid named Elenmyr and his cousins abandoned him for dead when they returned to their home in the Underdark. The druid saw Vinny's potential for good and taught him the ways of light before he could become corrupted by his Drow brethren. Vinny later left Elenmyr to start adventuring on his own. Over the next 780 year or so, he explored many dungeons, honing his skills and meeting many adventurers, including a human soldier named Morgue and a rogue Drow female named Erelyn Kareese. While adventuring in a heavily guarded Orcish lair, he found his famous acid scimitar, and soon adopted it as his favored weapon. He outlived Morgue, but Erelyn remained a close friend through the years. Not long after Vinny's 800th birthday he encountered Arthrought ap Ankar, the young king of a distant land known as Forynoth. Arthrought was traveling with his chief bard, a powerful druid named Elenlys (who happened to be the son of Elenmyr, Vinnys former mentor.) Soon, they joined forces, and the group became a foursome and later a quintet with the addition of Glacier, the not-too-bright barbarian musician/warrior. The group traveled together for years, encountering many characters and slaying many unspeakable horrors. All this time, Vinnys nearly insatiable appetite for wealth was outweighed only by his loyalty to his friends. However, he did manage to amass a small fortune in diamonds, as well as his elven chain mail shirt and many more rare items and trinkets. He also discovered his ability (which is somehow connected to the tattoo that covers the entire left side of his body, which he was born with) to unleash blasts of kinetic energy from his left palm, and he practiced this until he was able to use it as a powerful weapon in combat. Like many famous Dwarven rock bands, the group split up when Arthrought married Erelyn and they settled down to rule in Forynoth. Vinny and Glacier continued adventuring together, although recently they have parted to pursue different quests. Vinny is tall at 62, and is lean but sharply muscled, with light blue skin and his famous blue scrollwork tattoo. He has shockingly white hair and white, pupil-less eyes. He still carries his trusty scimitar, although the rest of his treasures are stored in Arthroughts castle for safekeeping. He still has no idea about his original ancestry, other than his race(s) and does not even know so much as his own full name. One of Vinny's most notable traits is his almost uncontrollable desire for gold and treasures of any kind. He is willing to share his profits with fellow adventurers, assuming that they helped to acquire it. Also, he would never sell out his friends for any kind of treasure. Aside from his greed and constant use of colorful metaphors, he is trustworthy, handsome, and generally likeable, although sarcasm on his tongue tastes almost as sweet as faerie blood. [the end] I know the whole "leaving the underdark" thing is a bit too Drizzt-ish, and it makes no sense in THIS campaign. Right now I'm trying to come up with a new backstory and a decent concept to fit the Descent into Darkness campaign. My parents are hardcore anti-DnD baptists, so I don't own any DnD books myself, but I DO play d20 Modern and GURPS and have read about half of the Drizzt books. My original "Vinny" character is an 8th-level Shadow Slayer in d20 Modern: Urban Arcana, and I have a working knowledge of DnD conversions and rules. I will need some help from someone who actually owns some of the rulebooks (for classes and creating my new character, etc.) The main concept is a half-drow fighter-type with highest stats in Appearance, Strength, and Charisma, respectively. I prefer to only use the bare minimum amount of magic, if any at all. If you have any suggestions, PLEASE tell me. Right now I'm sort of in one of those "alone-in-the-dark" situations, but I really want to join (so I'll be "alone-in-the-Underdark") and I've read all the rules and stuff. I'm not asking you to make my character, that would be a complete waste of time and I would be ignored forever, I just need somewhere to start. Thanks for your time. --Vinny |

His skin tone and his height will no doubt give him looks. Drow are usually 5'5 and under at their tallest. His age should be lowered because only matrons and very powerful wizards can reduce the signs of aging and prolong their life spans.
Drow usually only live to be about 3 to 400 years old, MAYBE longer. Half breed would be half that...200 to 250 max. So an appropriate age wound be 20 to 50 years old currently. I'll ask Mike what he thinks would be beneficial in the way of classes. He has the books and the experience, I on the other hand am not as knowledable. To be insane is to have a lack of understanding of what one is doing to themselves and others in their surroundings. Age & stuff | #35
|
The original age was based on the fact that I thought all drow were unaging (like elves), although Vinny's "effective age" was somewhere between 18 and 28 on the scale of a human lifespan. I'll go with 40, to make him experienced but still young.
Thanks for your advice; it is much appreciated. |

Appearance will most likely not be used anymore in this campaign. Mike hasn't made any permanant changes yet so go with a fighter bard type. Bards don't get as many spells as the other caster classes do.

Hey All!
I've been reading the boards for a while, looking at everything including the decent into darkness pages & I've a question, hope ya don't mind. Are Fey'ri on the banned list- or is it more like that no one has bothered to make one up? I would think they'd fit right in: faerun setting, evil elves that consort with demons and the ecl is the same as drow for just as nifty bonus package. We haven't decided on what to do with the campaign yet, that's why the story lines/quest board is so actice. Players can post there to game with other players or with everyone, strangers included.
As for Fey'ri being allowed into the campaign, that's for Cogliostro to decide, but in the boards anything is allowed.
